Knight Green Jobs Training Center Philadelphia, PA

Completed in the summer of 2010, the John S. and James L. Knight Green Jobs Training Center resulted from the renovation of an 18,000 square foot portion of a building that was once a Civil War uniform factory located in Northern Philadelphia. The facility houses classrooms, laboratory training areas and office space for the instructional and support staff.

Polaris was asked to provide the HVAC design for this proposed LEED Gold certified renovation project. Our design incorporated high efficiency equipment with energy recovery technology in order to achieve comfort in the space while providing outdoor air levels well in excess of code requirements. The design also cuts back outdoor air levels when the spaces are lightly occupied, providing further energy savings.

The Owner reported very comfortable indoor conditions during the training center's first open house for approximately 100 people on a July day with extreme outdoor temperature and humidity levels.
